Hair cycling and why you should be doing it.

Updated: Feb 27

Have you heard of hair cycling?

There's this idea out there of “cycling” different hair products to account for your hair's changing needs and I am all about it!

What I mean by cycling is, rotating different hair care products to avoid product building up on your hair.

Ever notice how good your hair feels when you get a brand new shampoo and conditioner? Or if you use a certain brand for a long period of time your hair seems more limp or heavy than usual? Try cycling different brands and products until you find a few that work best for you, and add the one's you like to your "hair cycling routine."

I like to cycle between amika: products and Hairstory. You can find both linked on my website!

If I'm looking to treat my hair and scalp to some thing extra special like an overnight scalp oil treatment or before a heavy duty deep conditioner, I like to wash with a stronger shampoo called a clarifier. This shampoo type has more heavy duty cleansers that strip your hair of more dirt, oils ect. I’m using one that’s by Color proof right now which leaves my scalp tingly and hair feeling super clean!

I like to clarify and deep condition at least once a month and I like to “cycle” my regular products I use to wash my hair as soon as I run out of the previous one.

So what do you think, have I convinced you to try this hair care technique? Let me know in the comments! Be sure to share this on your Facebook or through email with your friends and family.
